Nailed to ¾ Inch Plywood Over Concrete

If you are installing your product onto a subfloor built up with ¾ inch plywood over concrete, you will follow the instructions described above. The only difference in the installation is the size of the fastener you use. Brad nails and staples or cleat nails should be no longer than 1 ¾ inch if you install the standard ¾ inch thick raw wood. If the product you are using is thinner, the staples or nails should be the product's size plus one inch. This is done to ensure that the nails or staples do not go all the way through the plywood and puncture the concrete. You might ask how will a nail or staple that is the size of the product plus one inch not go through ¾ inch plywood? Remember that you are nailing at a 45° angle. When top nailing, use a brad nail that is ¾ inch plus the size of the product because these will not be shot in at an angle. Since the installation of raw wood is similar on ¾ inch plywood, you can follow the previous section's directions on nailing raw wood to a wood subfloor. After the installation is complete, you can move on to the next chapter about sanding and finishing.
